Evolution of our financial situation

Like previous years, Tanjomoha continued its activity for the poorest in Vohipeno district while taking care of the 400 people within the center. Despite an increase in operating expenses in 2017 vs 2016, operating and investment expenses requirements were well covered in 2017, and year 2017 was also spared by cyclones, limiting unplanned expenses. Yet, we still have to deal with a very long drought that started in 2016; but our agricultural recovery efforts have been well funded.

Recurring droughts and cyclones over the past years require us to remain vigilant. The crops are often destroyed, which creates major disruptions. The price of rice in December 2017 was + 59% higher than the price of last year and this price remains very high at the beginning of the year 2018. We must therefore expect an increase in the operating costs of the Foyer in 2018.

Also, the withdrawal of major institutional donors continued in 2017. In 2017, operating expenses were mostly covered by individual donations. Throughout the year 2018, we must therefore continue the search for lessors, especially for operating expenses.
